Yet another profitable day on Thursday as High Curragh was a winner at Ripon (advised at 10/1).

Today’s bets:

Thirsk 2.30
Had his share of temperament for former connections and tendency to hang under pressure is a concern. However returned a highly promising effort on just his third start for this stable in the Spring Mile and has been dropped a further two pounds for this race. Unexposed over this trip (has run well over it on both previous occasions on turf) and now weighted to win. Booking of a strong jockey is probably a wise move and he will be keen to get back to winning ways after going 21 races without hitting the target in recent weeks.
Selection – FLAWED GENIUS. 2 point win @ 6/1 (General)

Newbury 2.35
This race doesn't usually go to a big price winner but there isn't anything at the head of the market that appeals strongly for win purposes. Cobo Bay likes to lead/race very prominently and he will do well to do that for the duration of this race. He does however like plenty of cut in the ground and has some decent placed form from higher marks over the past 12 months. Lucky Dance also has a similar racing style but he was noted sticking on well last time out in the Spring Mile on ground faster than ideal. We may not have seen the best of him in this country yet. Proponent was fourth in this race last year and improved on that to win on faster ground at Newmarket next time out. He likes to get his toe in, stays further and is likely to have been targeted for this race on his reappearance. None of the three selections are particularly well handicapped but they will handle track/trip and ground and that could count for a lot.
Selection – LUCKY DANCE. 0.5 points E/W @ 33/1 (Sportingbet)
Selection – COBO BAY. 0.5 points E/W @ 33/1 (Sportingbet)
Selection – PROPONENT. 0.5 points E/W @ 25/1 (Sportingbet)

Bangor 2.40
Selection – PHONE IN. 1 point E/W @ 20/1 (Sportingbet)

Ayr 2.50
Medermit is highly respected but he could find the combination of track/trip an insufficient test. Some of the proven, classier types don't appear well handicapped and a chance is given to Harper Valley and Secret Tune. Harper Valley has often promised more than he has delivered but a speedy two miles could suit this strong traveller and he showed enough over further last time out to suggest he is still in form. Secret Tune has more to prove at this level than most but he is an improving, lightly raced hurdler who likes top of the ground. he was decent on the flat and, even though he is four pounds out of the handicap, he could have a lot more to offer.
Selection – HARPER VALLEY. 0.5 points E/W @ 18/1 (Sportingbet) 3rd 16/1 ;D
Selection – SECRET TUNE. 0.5 points E/W @ 18/1 (Sportingbet) 2nd 16/1 ;D

Ayr 3.25
Selection – THAT’S RHYTHM. 1 point win @ 11/1 (General)
Selection – KING BARRY. 1 point win @ 20/1 (Stan James)
Selection – CHIARO. 1 point win @ 18/1 (General)

Nottingham 6.00
In for yard send just the one to this twilight meeting so it is likely he will be fit enough to do himself justice. Starts the season on a career high mark but proved very progressive in his second season last year and has shown he is versatile regarding ground conditions. Today's jockey has been seen to good effect on him on both occasions he has been on board. Probably his stiffest task to date but a decent pace could see the race panning out for him.
Selection – LIBERTY SHIP. 1 point E/W @ 12/1 (General)
