INGLEBY PRINCESS (Pontefract 2.40) - 2 point win
6/1 generally available
Dvinsky likes to lead/race prominently and, although he may not get an uncontested lead here, his draw in stall one does afford him the luxury of getting toward the head of affairs expending the least energy. Fellow front runners, Red Cape and Kipchuk, are drawn wider and they are likely to have much more use made of them in an attempt to tack across. Dvinsky has been showing a decent level of form on the A/W and hasn't been seen on turf since last May. That resulted in a below par performance sandwiched between two much better efforts on the A/W. However he can race off an 18 pound lower mark than he is currently rated on the A/W and there isn't conclusive evidence in his extensive form book that his turf form will be that much inferior. The yard have already had a winner from just two runners they have sent out on grass this season. Ingleby Princess makes her seasonal reappearance but she has run well on her initial outing in all three of her campaigns. She has slipped to her last winning mark and three of her four victories have come on stiff tracks. A decent pace at six furlongs will suit her and, under a good three pound claimer, she could be finishing better than most. Seems to handle any ground and comes from a stable who normally get early season winners.
PORTER’S WAR (Fontwell 3.00) - 2 point win
9/2 available at Ladbrokes 1st 5/2 - 4/1 available with Bet365 in the morning
Relatively lightly raced and only seen twice so far over fences. he ran well on his first attempt over a trip which probably stretched him but didn't build on that dropped back in trip when last seen in November. His absence since could either signal something was amiss or connections put him aside waiting for fast ground. His only win came under quick conditions after a similar break to today's and his powerful yard normally do well at this track. No superstar but it would be surprising if he couldn't compete in this grade.
INTABIH (Pontefract 3.10) - 1 point E/W
8/1 available at Sportingbet :shame:
American bred so probably not surprising he has been improving on the A/W lately. However he did show promise in a Newmarket Maiden over a mile last August and he could be on an upward curve, no matter what the surface. he stays further so a strongly run race on a track with a stiff finish could suit and he gave the impression he was value for more than his narrow winning margin last time out (seemed to idle once hitting the front). His only three wins came under today's jockey and, although he could've been better drawn, his racing style means he will probably be dropped in anyway.
SIMPLY SMASHING (Sedgefield 4.20) - 1 point E/W
