NW stated on Talksport on Sun day that he is not looking at lower leagues and considers he has the pick of the players in the Championship already so how does this fit in?
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

I would hazzard a guess that he was referring to the first team , guys like this would spend time in the reserves or loaned out to lower league clubs to gain experience.

Hammond is the best player in the non league I have seen, played against him a couple times when he was at royston. Aint this old news though, he already has been on trial at QPR over a year ago. Cracking striker, scored like 80 goals in 1 season.

There are jems out there, you just have to find them, i think its great the club are looking at players in these leagues, many a good footballer has had to give up his dream to earn money, but still plays semi pro , so why not?

Glad QPR are looking to the lower leagues for the next big thing, remember that is where Sir Les came from and more recently Charlie Austin who most would want in our side was picked up from non-league by Swindon.

Craig Hammond gets trial at QPR.

Before you ask who he is,its just something I've seen on NewsNowQPR and thought I'd share with my learned friends on WATRB.

FORMER Crows hitman Craig Hammond has earned a week-long trial at Championship leaders QPR.

Hammond, 23, has notched 22 goals for Zamaretto Premier Division side Cambridge City so far this season and scouts from the London club have been suitably impressed with his form in recent matches.

As well as training with Neil Warnock’s side, he will also feature in a reserve team fixture.

Hammond will be determined to grab the opportunity with both hands after struggling to make an impact at Conference side Histon following his move from Royston Town in 2009.

However, his form for the Lilywhites this season has been excellent and his manager Gary Roberts believes he has made great strides in recent months and fully deserves this opportunity.

As I said deserves a chance, even though he was on trial with us about a year ago. Cracking player, bit lazy thats why he didnt do well at histon. But any player who scores 80 goals in 1 season has something about them.

I've just seen this on another site too, I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand I think it's good that we are looking at lower league players, never know when you might unearth a gem. On the other hand........what does this say about our aspirations in the transfer market?!!!!
