  • Adel and his 'attitude problem'

A certain poster on here has spent the past 6 months launching a venomous tirade at Adel Taarabt and his supposed 'attitude problem' and it has got me thinking how do we define an attitude problem?

When I look at Taarabt I see a match winner, a player who no one else can match for ability in this division. We have seen a degree of petulance on the pitch from AT which certain fans have used to demonise the player as some sort of anti christ and I just don't get it.

We had no harder working player in the final third than Taarabt last season, you can see that from the amount of efforts he had on goal which more often than not were real shooting opportunities made by himself and were it not for the woodwork and some wayward shooting he would have easily doubled his goal tally last year. It then frustrates me to hear Taarabt being described as lazy because he isn't tracking back every 5 mins. I'll tell you another thing if he loses possession he does his best to get back, why? Because he constantly wants the ball and going back at the opposition on the attack.

AT is simply not happy to collect his wages each week he loves playing football. Ok he liable to storm off down the tunnel at the end of a game when things don't go his way or when substituted instead hanging around shaking the oppositions hands after defeat, but who cares he is a winner, I wish the rest of the squad wanted to win that much and be a match winner.

Off the pitch I have heard AT is a model professional, he is teetotal and religious and is part of community here in London. You don't hear off AT falling out of night clubs at 3am with a couple of tarts on his arms, beating people up in wine bars or shagging team mates wives. These are the sort of things which give someone an attitude problem IMO yet because he is an emotional player he gets frustrated and constantly wants to do something special he has an attitude???

Flair players more often begin life as individual talents and become team players as their career progresses. More often than not it takes a bit of nurturing from the right manager to make things click. To have so much confidence and ambition at such a young age should not be used as a stick to beat the individual. So we are not his first choice, so what, we are a mid table CCC side who can't even fill our ground, believe me we are not the most attractive proposition to a player like AT. We are reported to be the only club in for but in truth no one knows the full situation and it maybe no one can match our offer or guarantee him first team football like we can.

I just hope if he does sign a certain section of our support get off his back and stop looking for reasons to hate AT and welcome him with open arms like we should because from where I'm sitting he is not the one with the attitude problem.

the adel we first took on loan was selfish.. but his game has come on and he has been a team player.

i mean the times he really threw his toys out of the pram we was in turmoil with hart and harford. but under good managers magilton and warnock.. adel has done very well for us.

Well said. If a player doesn't show passion he doesn't care, and is there just to pick up his wages. If he shows a bit to much, he's a loose stroppy loose cannon. He's not the finished article yet but hopefully he'll have a manager in NW that can mould him, but not too much, as we don't want him to lose what he brings to the game.

            Good post mate.

I had a debate with the poster in question on this thread and I don't think he will be mentioning Taarabts contribution to the team again.

I don't think he has a so called attitude problem.

My issue with him is he needs to learn to pass at the right time and I question his decision making. I do however think Neil Warnock is the best manager to resolve his tantrums etc. What he did at the Barnsley game was wrong w12 but I think with Neil incharge we will see less of this petulant behavior.

I have been a critic in the past but we definately need his flair in the side. We need a player that can change a game and this is something he is very capable of doing. Mason is obessed with workman like players but that will only get you so far (like midtable) and Adel just gives us that little extra.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Spot on - i love watching Adel and has the ability to create something out of nothing at anytime. Got slated for his reaction in the Barnsley game last season. Got booed for not passing to Buzz - ridiculous reaction from the crowd as we were 5-2 up in stoppage time and after the move which lead to him shooting he was more than entitled to shoot in the circumstances. An entertainer - Welcome Adel i can't wait to see you in the hoops again.

Any "attitude" is the price paid for genius!!!

Adel Tarabt is in the true tradition of Rangers greats

Rodney. Stanley, Simon Stainrod, Roy Wegerle, Tony Currie to name but a few.

We should give him the number 10 shirt!!!!!

Buzsaky rightfully has the number 10 shirt. Give Adel the number 7 shirt.

Agree in parts with this post, in that he is a fantastic player and his game has really come on under Warnock. however, i do feel he has an attitude as towards the end of last season he twice asked to be substituted once for being booed by fans (wrongly in my mind but as a pro you just have to carry on) and then again the following game for not being allowed to take a penalty, which at a professional level is disgraceful. If Warnock can remove this from his game then in my mind this could potentially be one of the best bits of business this club has done in a very long time.
